Learn Spanish with: The man who had money and didn't tell his wife
Hello everyone, today's story is the story of Gabriel, a guy from Barcelona who lived and worked in Madrid and that's where I met him and we became friends because we shared the same hobby. Soccer and photography.
At first glance, Gabriel seemed a shy guy but it is true that it was only his appearance, once you knew him you could realize that he was a horny guy and that he was always in a good mood. He was tall, athletic and had very good taste in clothes and I don't think I've ever seen him repeat wardrobe. Many times we laughed saying that surely his closet was much bigger than my house.
Gabriel was a Barcelona fan and I am a Real Madrid fan, although that has never prevented us from discussing soccer, recognizing the merits of other teams and being able to watch soccer together without a bad atmosphere between us, on the contrary, we have always enjoyed ourselves regardless of who won.
One day, after a soccer match we went to dinner. Gabriel wanted to invite me to a restaurant he knew in Madrid and we went there. It was one of those fancy restaurants where the waiters bow to you several times as you pass by, where there are more colors than food on the plates, where the cutlery weighs more than the steak. Of those, that to pay, a normal person needs monthly payments.
We had a good dinner, I admit it, little but good, expensive but good, I would not go even if I had money, since I prefer to eat something traditional than any culinary invention with an extravagant name, I know, I am ignorant.
At dinner we talked about many things, soccer, photography, economy, savings... many things and we were honest about finances and savings. Gabriel has a good job, earns money and invests it quite well in the stock market, in real estate and in any business that can generate money in the short term, he is a lynx.
He told me that neither his wife nor anyone in his family really knew what he generated and he told me that he never told or would tell them because since he started working and getting higher salaries both his wife spent more money and he had cousins everywhere, always having to pay for family meals and leave money to other family members who did not strive to get ahead on their own merits. Gabriel's words: My wife is a spendthrift and my cousins are lazy.
Gabriel had the house paid for and a salary of 30,000 euros a month although his wife thought he earned 3,000. Of the 3,000 that his wife thought she earned, they saved 1,500 and another 1,000 they used to live on and his wife usually kept 500 for shopping and whims. Almost 17%, he told me resignedly.
He told me openly, the more he earned the more his wife would spend on unnecessary things and he admitted to me that yes, his closet was bigger than my whole house but not because of his clothes, but because of his wife's bags.
At no time did Gabriel want to speak badly of Maleni (his wife), they loved each other very much and were very much in love but there was one thing they did not agree on. Maleni used the money to spend and Gabriel to save and invest.
And what would you have done?
