Learn Spanish from Scratch: Lesson 5 - Combining sentences
Updated: Mar 17
Hello, Spanish students! I'm Miguel Marina, The Spanish Super Tutor, and today we're going to talk about how to make our first sentences in Spanish longer and more complex by combining what we've learned from our first three lessons.
In the first lesson:
we learned how to introduce ourselves. For example:
Español: Me llamo Juan, tengo 20 años, soy de Madrid y vivo en Venezuela.
English: My name is Juan, I am 20 years old, I am from Madrid and I live in Venezuela.
We also learned how to introduce another person:
Español: Mi amigo se llama Pedro, tiene 23 años, es de Barcelona y vive en Sevilla.
English: My friend's name is Pedro, he is 23 years old, he is from Barcelona and lives in Seville.
During the second lesson:
we focused on describing ourselves. Here are some adjectives you can use:
Español: amable (kind), divertido (funny), alto (tall), atractivo (attractive).
English: kind, funny, tall, attractive.
And to describe other people:
Español: Ana es muy guapa (beautiful), alta (tall) y tiene el pelo rubio (blonde hair).
English: Ana is very beautiful, tall, and has blonde hair.
The third lesson:
was about the verb 'gustar' (to like) and hobbies. Here's the conjugation of 'gustar':
Español: (a mí) me gusta, (a ti) te gusta, (a él/ella) le gusta, (a nosotros/nosotras) nos gusta, (a vosotros/vosotras) os gusta, (a ellos/ellas) les gusta.
English: I like, you like, he/she likes, we like, you all like, they like.
And here are some hobbies:
Español: hacer deporte (playing sports), fotografiar (taking photos), viajar (traveling), leer (reading), pintar (painting).
English: playing sports, taking photos, traveling, reading, painting.
