Lesson 7: Meal Times Introduction Welcome to Lesson 7! In this lesson, we will focus on meal times in different Hispanic cultures, exploring the cultural significance behind them, and learning to use expressions that help discuss these times more accurately. Learning Objectives By the end of this lesson, you should be able to: Understand the typical meal times in different Hispanic cultures. Use expressions like "at mealtime", "during dinner", and "before snack time" in Spanish. Discuss the cultural significance of various meals. Lesson Content Part 1: Vocabulary We will start with vocabulary related to meal times. Examples include: Desayuno (Breakfast) Almuerzo (Lunch) Cena (Dinner) Merienda (Snack) Sobremesa (The time spent at the table after a meal, talking and enjoying each other's company) Part 2: Expressions for Meal Times Next, we will introduce expressions for meal times and how they are used in Spanish. Examples include: A la hora de comer (At mealtime) Durante la cena (During dinner) Antes de la merienda (Before snack time) Part 3: Describing Meal Times We'll then practice describing different meal times using the new vocabulary and expressions. For instance: "A la hora de comer, siempre tenemos una ensalada." (At mealtime, we always have a salad.) "Durante la cena, hablamos sobre nuestro día." (During dinner, we talk about our day.) "Antes de la merienda, siempre lavo las manos." (Before snack time, I always wash my hands.) Part 4: Cultural Significance of Meals Lastly, we'll delve into the cultural significance of various meals in Hispanic cultures. We'll learn about the importance of family meals, the tradition of sobremesa, and how these practices contribute to the social fabric of these cultures.
