My 13-Year-Old Student Tells Me Off in Class

1 min read

Margaret is 13 and has been learning Spanish with me for two years.

She speaks it very well, participates enthusiastically,

and is one of my favourite students.

She studies at home and prepares for the next lesson before we’ve even had it.

As a teacher, what more could I ask for?

Well…

permission to tell the occasional joke.

Because I like to have fun in class.

I laugh, make jokes, and want my students to enjoy themselves too.

But Margaret is here to learn Spanish. Not to watch my comedy show.

So, whenever she thinks we’re getting distracted,

she tells me off and asks me to pay attention to the lesson.

Yes, you read that correctly.

My student asks ME to concentrate.

Have you ever seen a student tell their teacher off?

I see it every week.

And although I’m telling this story with a smile,

I love her attitude.

Margaret takes her learning seriously,

comes prepared, and wants to make every minute count.

At Spanish Super Tutor,

our students learn Spanish.

And some of them also make sure the teacher stays focused.

Thank you, Margaret, for your hard work,

your participation, and your patience with my jokes.

Keep up the good work. I’ll try to behave.
