About the event

The author reminisces about their childhood in the early 80's, highlighting the difficulties they faced due to water and electricity cuts, and a lack of money. However, despite these challenges, the author emphasizes that they always found ways to have fun in their neighborhood. Playing in the street taught them important life lessons and prepared them for social interactions from a young age. The author recalls a specific street called Postas, where they would play with other children. The street was the last one in the village and was not paved at the time. The children would play in a nearby field, make huts, catch crickets, and even steal melons from an orchard. Although stealing is frowned upon, the author explains that taking a few melons was different as it didn't cause much loss for the owner. One day, the children were caught by the guard of the orchard, resulting in a thrilling chase through fields. In a clever act of disguise, the children hid the melons beneath t-shirts to avoid detection and later shared them with their friends. The author concludes by emphasizing the joyful memories they had from those carefree days of playing in the street.
