Infos

In this interactive IGCSE Spanish lesson, students explore the topic of team sports and individual sports while developing key skills in speaking, reading, vocabulary and grammar. The lesson begins with a warm-up based on opinion questions about sport, designed to activate prior vocabulary and encourage oral participation from the very beginning. Students then read and discuss two opposing opinions: Carlos supports team sports because they teach cooperation, trust and teamwork, while Marta prefers individual sports because they develop discipline, responsibility and self-confidence. Through reading activities, true or false questions, correction of false statements, vocabulary cards, sentence creation and debate questions, students learn how to express their ideas more clearly and confidently in Spanish. They also practise sport-related verbs in six verb tenses, strengthening the grammatical accuracy needed for the IGCSE exam. In addition, students learn how to use connectors and useful structures to justify opinions, compare ideas and give examples. This lesson helps students talk about real-life topics such as motivation, teamwork, pressure, discipline, victory and personal effort. It is ideal for learners who want to improve fluency, expand their vocabulary and gain confidence for the IGCSE Spanish speaking exam. A dynamic, communicative lesson designed to help students learn Spanish while debating a very real question: Is it better to play as part of a team or compete alone?
