About
Saving or Enjoying Life: Two Ways to Think About Money is an interactive IGCSE Spanish in Hong Kong lesson designed for students who want to improve their speaking and reading skills through a real-life topic: money. In this class, students will explore a debate between two 17-year-old teenagers with very different opinions. Carlos believes that money is for enjoying life, travelling and creating memories with friends. Marta believes that saving money gives us security and is an important skill for the future. Students will read and understand two opposing opinions, learn key vocabulary about personal finance, create their own sentences, and practise giving clear opinions in Spanish using connectives, comparisons and examples. This lesson also includes grammar practice across six useful tenses: present, preterite, imperfect, perfect, near future with ir + infinitive, and the subjunctive. Students will strengthen their confidence for the IGCSE Spanish speaking and reading exams while discussing a topic that is relevant to teenagers in Hong Kong. Activities include reading, vocabulary, quiz questions, true or false tasks, grammar practice, “Ask Me” speaking prompts, debate practice and useful opinion expressions. This class is ideal for students preparing for IGCSE Spanish in Hong Kong who want to practise exam-style speaking, reading comprehension, vocabulary building and structured debate in Spanish.
