In this interactive IGCSE Spanish lesson, students explore the topic of eating out, buffets, restaurants and food choices while developing key skills in speaking, reading, vocabulary and grammar. The lesson begins with a warm-up based on opinion questions about food and restaurants, designed to activate prior vocabulary and encourage students to speak in Spanish from the beginning. Students then read and discuss two opposing opinions: Jesús loves going to all-you-can-eat buffets because he can eat a lot of different food and feel that he gets his money’s worth. Marta, on the other hand, prefers a normal restaurant where she can eat just enough, choose what she really wants and enjoy the experience without overeating. Through reading activities, flashcards, vocabulary practice, quiz questions, true or false tasks, correction of false statements and debate prompts, students learn how to express opinions clearly and confidently in Spanish. Students practise vocabulary related to food, restaurants, buffets, eating habits, prices, portions, quality, quantity, taste, health and personal preferences. They also strengthen their grammar by conjugating verbs in six key verb tenses: present, preterite, imperfect, present perfect, near future and subjunctive. This lesson helps students discuss real-life questions such as whether buffets are good value for money, whether it is better to eat a lot or eat well, whether people waste food at buffets, whether restaurants offer better quality, and whether going out to eat should be about quantity, pleasure or balance. The lesson also includes useful speaking structures, connectors and debate phrases to help learners justify opinions, compare arguments, agree or disagree, give examples and conclude answers effectively. It is ideal for IGCSE Spanish speaking and reading preparation, especially for students who need to talk about food, restaurants, health, lifestyle, money and personal opinions. A fun and communicative Spanish les
